Windows with Thermique heated glass have the potential to help architects and builders earn Commercial LEED points in the following categories:
CREDIT 1: OPTIMIZE ENERGY PERFORMANCE
DESCRIPTION: Reduce overall energy costs of a building by at least 3.5% in a retrofit project or 10.5% in a new building (compared to ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1-2004).
CREDIT 1.1 – 1.4: “WRITE YOUR OWN”
DESCRIPTION: Either (a) exceptional performance above the requirements set by the LEED-NC Green Building Rating System or (b) innovative performance in categories not specifically addressed by LEED-NC Green Building.
CREDIT 5.1: LOCAL RESOURCES
DESCRIPTION: A minimum of 10% of the products and materials included in the building must be extracted and manufactured regionally.
CREDIT 6.2: CONTROLLABLE THERMAL COMFORT
DESCRIPTION: Provide a high level of control over thermal comfort, either by individuals or groups/zones within a building.
CREDIT 7.2: VERIFY THERMAL COMFORT
DESCRIPTION: Conduct an anonymous survey of all occupants within 18 months of occupancy. At least 80% of occupants must be satisfied with thermal comfort.
